Dear ZandB,
I need your help!!
I don’t know where my head was when I decided I could save thousands of dollars by sewing my daughter’s solo dress by myself.
Suffice to say I didn’t anticipate the distraughtness associated such an undertaking and I’m experiencing some heavy duty stress levels that even red wine and dark chocolate can’t abate.
Are there any “hot glove” treatments to relieve my frustrations and anxieties to help me relax?
Distraught Feis Mom
Dear Distraught Feis Mom,
Let’s face it, if solo dresses were easy to make they’d be selling them at Kohl’s and JCPenny.
From the beginning of time many dancers and parents have dreamed and aspired to make their own solo dress…
There are Viking sagas that tell the stories of conquering hordes invading Ireland, pillaging and looting, only to be ultimately defeated by the frustration of making their own solo dresses…
Myself, I don’t have any suggestions on dress-making techniques or strategies…
But I do have a tactic to help reduce the related pangs of anxiety in creating your own dance costume.
The tried and true “Solo Dress Stress Reduction Tool”, successfully employed by dressmakers all over the world.
Keep this tool at close hand and use it the moment you hear that “elephant” snickering at you…
